My first BLOG entry

Hi Everyone -  Welcome

I'm just beginning to blog so excuse any mistakes. and are my two web boutiques.  I hope you'll get a chance to visit them.  Rose-Covered Cottage is a mix of vintage, antique, and handmade one-of-a kind items and personally designed florals; while Cottage Comforts is filled with new home decor and gift accessories from some of the most reputable companies in the business.

Prior to "retiring" I owned a 12 room decorator and gift house, as well as a full service florist shop all located in an historic home which was once part of the underground railroad.  Since it was in a small midwestern town we had the good fortune of getting to know many of our customers well and always looked forward to those coming from out of town to visit our shop for the first time.  I look forward to getting to know you and sharing some wonderful ideas and projects.

Since retiring and moving near family I decided I wasn't content with retirement.  So, I decided to open Cottage Comforts to offer on line the many products and companies I had come to know well from the floral and gift house days.  The products are very compatible and work well with most types of decorating.  Because of the close relationship I had growing up with my grandmas and great grandma I grew to love items from the past.  Therefore vintage and antiques are a part of my life now and thus came Rose-Covered Cottage.
I love my two beautiful daughters, three super grandsons and one precious granddaughter.  I love sewing and floral arranging as well as interior decorating of all kinds.

I'm just beginning to explore painting furniture with chalk paint and as soon as the weather warms up a little bit here in Illinois will begin again and hope to share some of the ideas with you.  I'm always open to your ideas and projects.

Please let me hear from you as I always love getting to know new friends.
